The University of Ulster is a multi-campus institution which has a strong commitment to the development of the Northern Ireland economy through research, academic enterprise and teaching. Its Ulster Business School (UBS) faculty is one of the largest providers of business and management training and research in the British Isles. Within the UBS, the Department of Business, Retail and Financial Services (BRFS) that is based on the University’s Coleraine campus, places a strong emphasis on knowledge transfer activities, and provides a natural home for the SMALLEST team.
The BRFS Department has a strong track record within UBS in developing research into successful academic enterprise. Being involved in SMALLEST means that it can take the University’s research into both Renewable Energy and Innovation Management and apply them to the development of a successful service.
The University of Ulster sees the SMALLEST service as not only providing cost-effective energy advice to communities in Northern Ireland, but also providing a means of encouraging future community development and enterprise.
The full time academic staff involved in the project: Derek Bond, Professor Paul Humphreys, Dr Norry McBride and Dr Elaine Ramsey.
